Saturday’s are coming and going faster than I ever thought they would in lockdown. And whilst it’s hard to maintain any sort of structure during the week, the weekend’s (in our house at least) are very much treated as time for drinking, dancing and indulging in the best live streams.
It’s been pretty incredible watching how people have adapted to this new way of life. The night outs and festivals you were so looking forward to condensed into a weekend of live music from the kitchen or living room of your favourite DJ’s. Just because you can’t go out to party doesn’t mean you can’t bring the party home. We’ve put together a list of the best live streams happening this weekend so you can tune in, turn up the volume and dance the day and night away.
Beatport Reconnect DnB Takeover
Beatport returns for another 15 hour take over but this time, it’s strictly DnB. Having already put together 2 mammoth live stream sessions, raising more than £240 000 and bringing in over 23 million views, Beatport hopes to continue the fundraising with this weekends killer line up. Some of the biggest names in DnB including DJ Marky, S.P.Y., Black Sun Empire and Mollie Collins are joining today’s line up.
“Our ReConnects events are shattering our expectations and have brought the global electronic music community together in a time when we all needed a little joy and fun back in our lives” said Robb McDaniels, CEO of Beatport. You can tune in from 2pm GMT over at Twitch where you will also be able to live purchase tracks.
In support of Mind and the NHS, Lockdown Festival will be streaming all weekend bringing everything you could want from an actual festival into the comfort of your home. You can expect everything from aerial performances to DJ sessions to arts and crafts workshops and positivity talks. The festival has been curated specifically to cure lockdown boredom and there really is something for everyone.
To get into the festival mode we’ve got some top tips for you:
- Wake up, crack open a warm tinny and attempt to wipe yesterdays glitter from your face.
- Reapply more glitter
- Find your most fabulous sparkly outfit – wear it.
- Continue drinking throughout the day, don’t move onto spirits until late afternoon at least.
- Wait outside the toilet for at least 5 minutes every time you want to go.
- When it’s time for bed, sleep on a semi inflated air mattress (or a tent in the garden if its big enough) so you can wake up aching and hungover tomorrow ready to repeat steps 1 – 5.

Minirig’s Lockdown Festival
Join Minirig for their latest lockdown instalment with high octane hip hop duo Too Many T’s. If you’ve never heard of Too Many T’s – get to know. They are the pure embodiment of fun. I’m lucky enough to have seen them live in Bristol, where they had such good on stage banter, seemed like such genuine, down to earth people and had the bars to match. I’m excited to see how it translates to live streaming and hoping they’ll perform tracks God Save The T’s and Talk Talk.
Boiler Room: Streaming from Isolation
Throughout lockdown Boiler Room have been providing the sonic goods with their new series, Streaming from Isolation. As a way of protecting artists and audiences, Boiler Room cancelled more than 40 upcoming shows including their first festival in Johannesburg. Instead, live streams will be broadcast direct from the artists homes and private spaces in hope they can bring the party spirit into peoples home and raise money for The Global FoodBanking Network.
Four Tet, Mall Grab and Peggy Gou are just a few names to have already contributed to the isolation sessions and joining them this weekend is Perel and Madam X. Tune in from 7pm to catch Perel offer up a dreamy synth pop infused, beat heavy set followed by Madam X at 8pm who turns things slightly darker with dischordal breakbeats, snappy snares and influences from grime, garage, dubstep and UK Funky.
Hospitality House Party
Today really is a DnB lover’s haven. As if there wasn’t already enough DnB on offer Hospitality has dug through the archives to put together yet another take over that’ll keep you locked in and listening. Join Polaris, Camo & Krooked and Krakota for what is promised to be 6 hours of the biggest and best DnB rollers. With Daxta MC and Lowqui MC on hosting duties, it’ll feel like you’ve got a night going on in your kitchen thanks to the hype men.
